This was my first time getting a haircut by a professional since Covid 19 affected the country. I decided to give my at-home stylist (wife) a break and seek professional help (ha!). Despite being apprehensive about getting my haircut in an indoor public establishment, I decided to take the risk and give it a try. The online check-in feature was nice and I received a text as to my estimated appointment time and to let the store know once I arrived. Upon arrival, I let a store associate know I was there. She advised, however, I enter my phone number on a touch screen to check in. I was leery of this, as I noticed other store patrons using this same screen to also pay for services rendered and didn't think this approach was taking extra precaution for everyone's benefit. While waiting about 10 minutes to be called by a stylist to get my haircut, I noticed two very important things. First, two patrons were not wearing their masks during their entire haircut session. Secondly, the seats they were in seem to just extend past a 6 foot marker. This being a closed indoor environment, I got a bit nervous. Luckily, my haircut didn't take long and I was able to keep my mask on the entire time. Upon checking out and paying my bill, I had to use the same touch screen I checked in on. There was a bottle of sanitizer available nearby and I made sure to use an ample amount. If this store could enable bill pay online, so patrons don't have to use the same screen or if they can give their credit cards directly to store associates, that would be preferred. Also, everyone should be made to wear masks for everyone's benefit. Let's stop the spread!

I have had to slow down the amount of times I get a haircut in order to maximize social distancing during this pandemic. As a cancer survivor, I am in a higher risk category due to lung and heart damage from chemotherapy when I was 8 years old. The first two visits I had to SC on Northlake were fantastic - temperatures being taken, social distance seating available inside and out, all patrons and employees wearing masks. Then, this last Friday 11/13/2020 it was a complete 180. The cut was fine, the stylists all wearing masks. However, as I was finishing up I noticed a patron who the staff greeted by name come in without a mask despite the mandate on the door. Nobody said anything to him, and as I scanned around the room I saw that of the 4 customers in the joint, I was the only one wearing a mask. I fought with every ounce of my being to beat cancer - it was a concerted effort by not only me, but my family and friends. Stepping into an environment that blatantly disregarded my safety and the safety of others was extremely disheartening. Call me a snowflake if you like - I've had a limb cut off and survived chemo and cancer - I'll be fine. Sport Clips has lost a patron of 10 years.

Hello Mr. Van Deman. Thank you, very much, for your comments. We completely understand your feelings regarding the use of masks during these times. As you noted, we are taking extra precautions, including maintaining social distancing, requiring our employees to wear masks, using fresh capes and towels with each client and thoroughly cleaning our hands and stations between clients. As for requiring our clients to wear masks, you are correct, we do have a sign on our window asking clients to wear a mask in our store. That is our preference. However, since the state of Florida has rendered county mask requirement regulations unenforceable, we have chosen not to put our employees in the no win situation of policing a mask requirement among those who prefer not to use them. That being said, we will and are complying with all local laws and regulations. There was a time when masks were required by the county and at that time, all our clients were required to use a mask in our store. But at this time it is not required. However, we do allow our stylists to ask a client to wear a mask if they are not comfortable cutting hair on those who are not. Presently, all our stylists don't have an issue with it. I would like you to know that since we reopened in May after being closed for two months because of the pandemic, we have not had a single employee in either of our two stores test positive for the virus. I hope this at least explains the how/why of our operations. Again, we completely understand your point of view and look forward to the day we can put this pandemic behind us.
